The focus of this project is the
empowerment of the people in villages through development of
human resources. The main means for achieving this is
through rural development with the introduction of appropriate
technologies, providing the people with suggestions and
administrative support. Most of the programmes are
organised through Women’s Self-Help Groups and a few
vocationally based, mixed Self Help Groups. A SRADHA
farmers’ association has been formed to extend the message of
nature-friendly agriculture to a larger number.
A training centre has been built in one of the villages where
courses in sewing, computing, teachers’ training and health
are offered. The training centre was built with compressed
soil bricks made locally.
SRADHA’s
key aim is to provide TRAINING and SUPPORT for all villagers to
:
·
Establish and run their own self-help groups.
·
Give
equal, authoritative voice to women.
·
Develop
new forms of farming: organic, less water dependent, more
compost-making strategies aware.
·
Develop
skills for new forms of employment to replace the diminishing
capacity of the land for agriculture.
·
Develop
effective marketing strategies.
·
Value
and maintain local cultural expression.
·
Ensure
education and training opportunities are available and used by
youth.
·
Create
effective early years and primary education for all
participating villages.
·
Establish
good models for dissemination to other villages.
