CHILDREN'S HOME, DNEPROPETROVSK, UKRAINE

A new home was opened in 2001 for orphans under the age of two and new born babies abandoned by their mothers.  This happens frequently when the mothers are HIV positive, mentally ill, very poor or are very young and unmarried.  There are now about 70 children, and the home takes a special interest in children who are HIV positive or who have problems of the central nervous system due to birth trauma.  The home was set up by a Ukrainian Subud member in a building provided by the local authorities. SD(B) gave a donation that was used to buy a computer, printer and software for bookkeeping and for storing information on the children to be admitted.
