ICDP UPDATE FROM LAILAH ARMSTRONG

On 5^th November 2003 UNICEF Colombia launched the International Child Development Programmes to 150 organisations, including ICBF and the Presidency. The director Manuel Manrique gave an opening speech about the importance of ICDP for the country, then we watched the video UNICEF had made about our work last year, and we also had an opportunity to explain more about the methodology through a power point presentation. People were clearly moved and many asked us to link up. A new pack of ICDP-UNICEF beautifully produced manuals was given out to everyone who was present. We were interviewed by El Tiempo which will be broadcast on the radio all over the country. Our next task with UNICEF, for 2004 is a project in Narino, which is the poorest area of Colombia, where we are training 5600 promoters. When we were standing there together we all felt without a trace of doubt that none of it would have happened without the latihan and our network of people who follow it.
