SUMMARY OF 97th MEETING OF SUSILA DHARMA (BRITAIN) 29th JANUARY 2005

Peace Festival in Edinburgh.  Sjarifah Roberts with the help of Edinburgh Group are organising a stall at this Festival, which will be attended by Amalia Dickie, UN contact for SDIA, from Subud Austria and Sharif Horthy.

Tsunami Relief.  SD(B) sent an initial donation of £500 towards the Aceh Base Camp which has now been more than compensated by donations from members.  We are in touch with the organisers of the Base Camp and will release more funds as and when they become required.  Bella Rosario from Mithra Foundation is now trying to work on the Indian coast at Chennai to relieve hardship inflicted by the tsunami there, and some of the funds may be sent there.   We are in touch with Sri Lanka to see whether there are any Subud initiatives for tsunami relief there.

ICDP.  A first instalment of £2,000 has been sent to ICDP towards the large programme in Boyaca, Colombia.

The Board approved the revised budget for 2005.  Projected expenditure is £60,600, of which funding of £15,250 is in place and projected income is £34,250, leaving £11,100 to be raised.  We have some leeway in our general fund, but look out for fundraising efforts this year !  If you have any ideas for raising funds for SD(B) in your groups, please let us know and we will offer what support we can.

SRADHA.  £1,800 has been sent to offset the loan which the project took out to enable them to complete their training centre.

Maemunah Hasan had visited Indonesia and was able to report on some of the projects.  She had details of several projects being run by IRDN, and the Board asked her to get proposal forms completed so that we could assess them for funding.  They include a TB treatment programme, distribution of ‘protema’ a protein-rich supplement for babies, and a traditional medicine programme.

Bi-Zonal Meeting in Kinshasa.  Sjarifah Roberts will now attend this meeting which will give her the opportunity to meet project leaders and many other delegates from Africa and elsewhere.  Suleyman Mowat is also attending this meeting with a special brief from Sachlan North to find out how the growing of artemisia, a cure for malaria, is going at various locations.

SD(B) now has a colourful new leaflet detailing some of the projects we have supported.  If you would like some for your group, especially if you have your own premises which are used by other organisations, please contact Laura Lesley laura@susiladharma.org.uk.

Our next meeting is on 7th/8th May at Faversham.
