SUMMARY OF 93rd MEETING OF SUSILA DHARMA (BRITAIN) 23rd MAY 2004

International Child Development Programme (ICDP)
The board considered the request for funding from the ICDP board in Norway for the Narino project in Colombia. This is ICDP’s priority at present, as UNICEF is actively working to raise $80,000 for the cost of materials for the follow up phase of the project. On top of this a further $20,000 will be needed from mid August for field visits and part of the evaluation costs. So far only $2,700 had been received as an individual donation through SDIA. It was agreed to contribute $7,300 to make up the total contributions to date to $10,000. This work is very important. Other national Susila Dharmas will be encouraged to contribute and we will try to raise more funds at the Subud Britain Congress.

New Treasurer
The board thanked Mark McElroy for his excellent work as Treasurer of SD(B) over the last 5 years. The board also welcomed Stephen Weil, the new Treasurer, to his first meeting.

Would all those wishing to make donations to Susila Dharma (Britain) please send them to Stephen at 126 Doversgreen Road, Reigate, Surrey RH2 8DW.

India
It has been agreed with SD Germany and with the Mithra project near Bangalore that (a) the new primary school should be built on land already in Mithra’s possession for the voluntary training centre and (b) the education programme should be restricted to primary education but a learning support centre should be established to support and monitor children progressing from the primary school to high school. Funding for the new building would be dealt with by SD Germany, and teaching staff, resources and pedagogy remained SD(B)’s responsibility.

Indonesia
The application to the Community Fund for the third stage of the TSLICK programme (Towards Sustainable Livelihoods in Central Kalimantan) has been submitted. Lorna Dowson-Collins will continue her work with TSLICK and on fundraising for new projects in Indonesia until this summer. Sachlan is in Kalimantan on a TSLICK monitoring visit.

Wisma Mulia
A PA system, to enable those residents who are hard of hearing to participate in events in the meeting room, had been purchased with funds provided by SD(B).

Artemesia
The board agreed to provide a small budget of £200 to provide artemesia kits to various developing counties where malaria was prevalent and from which enquiries had been received.

Annual accounts
The board approved the financial statements for the year to 31 December 2003.

Next meeting
Our next board meeting will be on 17/18 July 2004 at Loudwater Farm
