SUMMARY
OF 88th MEETING OF SUSILA DHARMA (BRITAIN)
14th JUNE 2003
Manike
Appeal
There has been a wonderful response to the appeal to raise funds to
cover the cost of surgery for Manike Maliyadde, a Sri Lankan member
suffering from a giant cell tumour that has destroyed her jaw and now
threatens her cheeks and eyes. Sufficient money has been raised for the
initial operation she needs, and treatment has started in Britain.
International
Child Development Programme
Following a successful visit to Colombia by Lailah Armstrong, UNICEF
agreed to give a grant of $35,000 for ICDP operations in that country.
Wisma
Mulia
Building work on the new extension (an assisted bathroom and first
floor flat above it) should be finished in mid August. The assisted
bath and hoist will be paid for from donations raised by SD(B).
Fundraising
for Indonesia
The board agreed to renew the one-year fundraising agreement with Lorna
Dowson-Collins for a further three months. This will give time to see
whether any of the outstanding funding applications are successful,
clarify how much money will be available from other sources, and
develop a plan for next year.
Mithra
Foundation, India
Following the submission of the grant application for the next stage of
this educational project, the Community Fund requested further
information and a meeting has been held with them. The result of the
application is expected by the end of August.
F
E Amor
The board agreed to send $2,500 to the F E Amor school in Bogota,
Colombia to meet the urgent need to pay outstanding teachers’
salaries.
SD(B)
News
It was agreed that there should be four issues of SD(B) News each year,
to be printed part in colour and part black and white, which should be
distributed direct to Subud groups in Britain.
Subud
Britain Congress
The SD(B) slot during the Congress plenary session will explore some
core SD themes through the expressive arts in a collaborative activity
with creative members. There will also be SD workshops on ICDP, Mithra
and Kalimantan. – as well as the AGM on the final morning. We are
hoping to have a small stall; we would welcome help in manning it and
also donations of good second hand CDs.
Next
Meeting
Our
next board meeting will be on Sunday 7th September 2003 at Faversham,
Kent.
