SUMMARY
OF 86th MEETING OF SUSILA DHARMA (BRITAIN)
18/19
JANUARY 2003
.
Wisma
Mulia
Following a large anonymous donation, SD(B) has now received sufficient
donations to cover the cost of the assisted bath and the hoist
(including installation). We are waiting for final cost information
from Wisma Mulia. It is hoped that work on the assisted bathroom (which
is now a requirement under the Care Standards Act) will start in the
spring.
International
Child Development Programme
The board agreed to send $4,500 to assist in funding the second phase
of the ICDP project at Celuan, near Santo Angelo in Brazil. It also
agreed, following receipt of a detailed report on the ICDP project run
by Camila Romero near Buenos Aires, Argentina, to send a further $2,420
towards the funding of this project.
Fundraising
for Indonesia
Lorna Dowson-Collins reported on her work since the last meeting and on
action to be taken over the next 3 months. Following the funding
application, the European Union has requested more information on the
autonomy and democratisation programme in Kalimantan. A team was being
formed to develop the eco-village project in Rungan Sari and it was now
planned to apply to the Community Fund for finance later in the year.
Efforts continue to find a corporate sponsor for the community mining
proposal. A funding application has been submitted for the Dayak
Cultural Revitalisation project.
Mithra
Project
The priority for Mithra is to submit an application to the Community
Fund as soon as possible. The total budget for the school over the next
5 years, including the new buildings in the first 2 years, is £145,000.
SD(B) is also funding, jointly with SD Germany, the cost of a research
study to produce a strategic plan for improving the quality of life in
and around Bellur village, in the Medak district of Tamil Nadu,
southern India.
Congo
It was agreed to send £1,000 donated for the Lemba Imbu school in a
very poor rural area near Kinshasa run by Charlotte Ndona, a Subud
member, and her husband. At the same time we have sent £200 to cover 6
months’ rent at the Nandora Vunguta Clinic.
Clear
Path International
Imbert Matthee, an American Subud member, had asked us to help the work
of Clear Path International in clearing landmines by approaching the
Princess Diana Fund for financial support. Their motto was ‘Every
bomb we disable can no longer disable’. We will put an article in the
next SD(B) Newsletter and apply to the Princess Diana Fund.
Our
next meeting will be on 3/4 April 2003 at Bristol. At this meeting
there will be a report back from those attending the meeting of
European SDs at Hamburg from 14-16 March.
