SUMMARY OF 83rd MEETING OF SUSILA DHARMA (BRITAIN)
22/23 JUNE 2002

Mission Statement
The board agreed a mission statement for SD(B) which read as follows: ‘Our mission is
to stimulate and nurture initiatives by our members in Britain to undertake and support humanitarian projects anywhere in the world that empower people and are participatory, sustainable and in harmony with the local culture.’ From our mission statement and core aims we will deduce our goals on an annual or biannual basis.

Fundraising for Indonesia
The board agreed the terms of a one-year fundraising agreement with Lorna Dowson-
Collins, making use of a donation received that was tied to raising funding for projects in Indonesia. A further agreement will be entered into with Stephen Gonsalves for him to
provide accounting input into the proposals and applications for funding to various funding bodies.

International Child Development Programme
The board two grants for projects in South America – one of $3,000 for CeLuAn in Brazil
and one of $1,200 for a project in a poor area of Buenos Aires.

Mithra Project
The board received an update on this project and heard how Bella and Joe, the
managers at Mithra were dealing with the main problem of the turnover of staff. Raphael
has produced sponsorship forms for his cycle journey from Canada to Mexico. These
forms would be distributed and put on our website.

Links with Subud Britain Regions
Following on from the joint meeting with Subud Britain’s National Council, it was agreed
that links should be established with the Subud Britain regions, with each SD(B) trustee
to develop links with one of these regions.

British International Gathering and Congress (BIG 2002)
The Susila Dharma programmes for BIG 2002 from 11 – 18 August were discussed and agreed. During most of the pre-Congress activities SD(B) will be joining with Susila
Dharma International and other national Susila Dharmas. During the Congress period
SD(B) will have its own vision workshop, as well as the formal AGM, and will ask for a
final workshop with all the Wings attending. SD(B) has contributed various sums, in co-operation with SDIA and other SDs, to enable SD representatives to come to BIG
2002 from Ukraine and R D Congo.

Our next meeting will be on 31 August/1 September at Lewes New School.
