SUMMARY OF 82nd MEETING OF SUSILA DHARMA (BRITAIN)
19/20 APRIL 2002

·                    Publications and communications   We are liaising with Susila Dharma International (SDI) to have a leaflet available for the British International Gathering (BIG 2002) in August. The next issue of SD(B) News would be devoted mainly to the old people’s residential home at Wisma Mulia; the intention was that the following issue would have an article on the Mithra project in India as its main item.

·                    Kalimantan   Rosemary, Laura and Mark had attended a weekend session organised by the Kalimantan Support Group at Lewes. It had been well attended, but most of those present were not aware of SD(B)’s role in funding KSG’s main project, the PRA/sustainable development project in Central Kalimantan.

·                   Congo   The board agreed to send £1,600 via SDI for projects in the Congo, £1,0 00 earmarked for children’s projects and £600 for Complexe Scolaire in Inkisi.

·                    Ukraine   We had sent £1,250 to the babies’ home in the Ukraine. This home now had one half of the funding needed for the encephalograph and hoped to raise the rest locally.

·                    Mithra Project   Raphael, who had just returned from 3 months in India, reported on the tour of South India by a group of British Subud members. Two of this group planned to return to help in the Mithra project. A third class would start at the primary school in June. The main priority was to find an experienced teacher who grasped the ethos of active and creative education and would stay for a period of years; this would be possible if an appropriate salary was offered.

·                    Wisma Mulia   Michael reported that the owners of Wisma Mulia had approved a proposal to build an extension with an assisted bathroom on the ground floor and another residential flat above it. An application was being made for planning permission. The total estimated cost was around £90,000, of which around £15,000 represented the cost of the assisted bath. It was agreed that an appeal for funds for the assisted bath should be included in the next SD(B) News.

·                    Ecuador   SD(B) agreed to contribute to an amount needed by Asociacion Vivir to build an extra floor on their Health Centre so that their project can expand.

·                    Invitation by Subud Britain   Members of the board had a successful get together with the members of national council and the national helpers on 20 April, during which the aims and goals of Susila Dharma were explained and presentations made on three of the main projects that we were supporting (Mithra in India, the Sustainable Development programme in Kalimantan and the International Child Development Programme in various countries).

·                   Our next meeting will be on 22/23 June at Loudwater Farm.
