SUMMARY OF 81st MEETING OF SUSILA DHARMA (BRITAIN)
16/17 FEBRUARY 2002

Publications and communications
Pictures of the children’s home in the Ukraine and a leaflet received from the Mithra project in India are now on our website.  An article on the sustainable development programme in Kalimantan is expected shortly. A format is being introduced for a new SD(B) newsletter to replace ‘Gather In’, not as part of the 4 centre pages of The Bulletin published by Subud Britain but as a separate sheet with 2 sides that would be sent out with The Bulletin. The aim is to put more information on the web than in the newsletter to encourage those who read the newsletter to also go to the website.

Kalimantan
Sachlan reported on his visit to Kalimantan with Lorna Dowson-Collins to evaluate the sustainable development project and help launch the new phase of the project being funded by the grant from the Community Fund. They met Dr Francis Wohono, who was just completing his external assessment of the project. It was agreed to publicise his report when available to help show that spending on the project is fully accountable. The possibility of making a video on the Kalimantan project will be explored with SICA.

Ukraine
The board received a report on the babies home in the Ukraine and noted that the first priority there is for an encephalograph at a cost of $4,500. It agreed to contact SD Germany and SD Netherlands to see if they are willing to share with SD(B) the cost of funding this machine

Mithra Project
The board received a report from Raphael, who is still in India, and Bella, the manager of the school, on the first 20 months of the Mithra school. We will continue to liaise with SD Germany and improve communications with SD France to ensure maximum co-operation in working to help this important project.

International Child Development Programme
It was agreed to meet the cost of a further visit by Lailah Armstrong to follow up on ICDP work in Latin American countries.

Congo
SD(B) is developing a closer relationship with Oxfam UK in Kinshasa to improve contacts with the Lemba Imbu school and other projects in the Congo. We are also liaising with SD France and SD Germany about co-funding a fact-finding visit from France, to Congolese clinics in particular, by Dr Cedic Hadjaj.

Invitation by Subud Britain
The board accepted an invitation to attend the next meeting of the National Council of Subud Britain for the afternoon and evening slot on Saturday 20th April 2002. The aim would be to explain the role of SD within Subud, outline the basic principles applied in SD projects, give presentations on some of the main projects and explore ways in which SD(B) can work more closely with Subud Britain at national, regional and group level.

Our next meeting will be on 19-20 April at Norwich.
