SUMMARY OF MEETING OF SUSILA DHARMA (BRITAIN) HELD AT LOUDWATER  19/20TH MAY 2007

Half of Saturday 19th consisted of a workshop conducted by Marcus Hamilton, to whom we are very grateful for giving his time.  Now that our team has grown, the Board were enabled to focus our intentions for the future.  We hope to have an article about the workshop in the next Journal.

The Board approved the annual accounts for 2006 in preparation for our AGM in August.

Following our inspection by the Charity Commission, the Board agreed a small amendment to our Memorandum and Articles and discussed SD(B)’s relationship with the Almoners.  Thanks to Robin Jones for being present for this item.

Indonesia – DFID Governance and Transparency Fund

The Board agreed that Hamid Kennedy should submit a concept paper to DFID (Dept. for International Development) for a large project in Kalimantan in partnership with Bardolf Paul and YTS which would work to improve the quality of governance and transparency in regions that are dominated by extractive industries such as mining and forestry.

ICDP. (International Child Development Programme)

Lailah Armstrong joined us at lunchtime to update us on the progress of the ICDP projects in Colombia and Guatemala.  The Board agreed to fund the remaining two instalments of the UNICEF-led programme in Huila province, i.e. £4,000.  We also discussed whether we could help Lailah to find funding from a donor outside Subud.

R.D.Congo – Lemba Imbu

The Board agreed to donate £2,000 towards the purchase of computers for the cyber café.  It may be possible to add an extra £800 to this following re-assignment of other earmarked funds.

Kalimantan

The Board discussed a proposal from Elpam, a project which continues the work of the TSLICK project, for the empowerment of women.  We decided we would like more detail before making a decision to send funds.

The Board agreed that the £2,500 we had sent to Clearpath could be used for a project helping landmine survivors on the Thai-Burma border rather than the rice mill project which had been fully funded.

Thank You 2007

We would be grateful for support for our jewellery and used Subud books stall and also the mini-art exhibition being organised by Sjarifah.  We will give a presentation to the delegates during Subud Britain Congress and also earlier in the celebration for those not staying the whole time.  In our Classroom 21, we are meeting with younger people to talk about SD on Fri.24th.  We hope to arrange another time to share experiences of caring activities.  Don’t be shy – come and tell us what you are involved in.

Thanks to Daisy MacDonald and Robin Jones for attending our meeting and working with Stephen Weil on creating a database to help with our admin.  Thanks also to Irmani Webb and Bustami Pollard, National Helpers, for their support on Saturday.
