SUMMARY
OF 101st MEETING OF SUSILA DHARMA (BRITAIN) The
Board agreed to transfer the balance of the International Almoners
accounts following the setting up of the new Care Support Team at World
Congress in Innsbruck. The deposit account will be transferred to
MSF to be administered by the Care Support Team, and the money in the
working account will be transferred to the new International Assistance
Group based in Canada. Sharifin
Gardiner joined us for our meeting on 7th and was keen to work with us
on re-assessing our priorities for funding. Unfortunately, Hamid
Kennedy could not attend this meeting, so further discussion on this
topic was postponed. Budgets
The Board made a rough budget for 2006 which included amounts for ICDP,
SRADHA, Mithra, Clearpath International, Asociacion Vivir, and our
contribution to SDIA. The Board also approved the SDIA budget
which had been sent. The
Board expressed satisfaction with the issue of our newsletter which was
circulated just before Christmas. We hope to produce another
issue before the end of March. SRADHA
The Board agreed to send £1,750 to SRADHA to repay a loan they have
taken out to build an annexe to the training centre. Further sums
requested for enabling the training programmes will be considered later
in the year. Clearpath
International The application to the Diana Memorial Fund was
unsuccessful, but the Board agreed to pledge £2,500 for the next two
years for this project, and to review the funding situation at the end
of 2007 to see whether we could give another £2,500, if funds had not
been raised from elsewhere. Kalimantan
Sachlan reported that the Sustainable Livelihoods project had
exhausted the funds obtained from the Community Fund, and Didiek the
project manager had taken a job elsewhere. However, elements of
the project were continuing under the guidance of Didiek’s wife, and
some of the approaches were now embedded in the target villages.
Therefore, it is hoped that sustainability has been achieved to a
certain extent, which is the ultimate aim of our efforts. One
bad piece of news is that the Indonesian Government has forbidden the
growing of artemisia in Indonesia. The pharmaceuticals must be
getting worried ! However, we hope the small plantations can
continue to be grown in East Timor and R.D. Congo. S.D.
Cuba SDIA has asked if we can support Cuba after a hurricane
which destroyed homes of Subud members because it is not possible at
present to send funds from USA to Cuba. The Board agreed to send £1,000
in addition to the £2,000 already received by earmarked
donations. ICDP Lailah Armstrong joined us on Sunday morning and reported on the successful conclusion of the big project in Boyaca, Colombia. During this year we plan to support Eleazar Luft who wants to do a new project in Florianopolis, Brazil. We have also received an application from Virna at Mina Clavero which we will consider at our next meeting. It is hoped to organise a joint weekend with representatives of SES at Brecon to explore ways of co-operating and to look at the way we work. |
